Melissa Lynn Holmes Phillips is the Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Sharon. She works to create stronger communities by empowering citizens and entrepreneurs to become active change agents within their schools, companies, neighborhoods and cities. After serving as a Peace Corps volunteer, Ms. Phillips decided that although she could find happiness anywhere in the world, her true passion was to make a difference in the place she was born and raised. In 2012, she graduated from The New School in Manhattan with a Master’s Degree in Urban Policy Analysis and Management and returned to work towards reviving the Valley. Prior to leading Sharon’s revitalization efforts, Ms. Phillips served as the Assistant Director of Warren Redevelopment and Planning. During that time, she spearheaded a number of community integrated initiatives including the Pop-Up Project, Shops on the Square, Warren Now!, and The Robins Project. Ms. Phillips’ efforts demonstrate her belief that sustainable change happens when people from all walks of life come together and collectively vision a new future.
