Zoning & Building Permit Application

PROJECTS CANNOT BE STARTED UNTIL THIS PROCESS IS COMPLETED AND PERMIT IS RECEIVED. 

 Zoning applications are required for:

1. The erection, adaptation, alteration, or remodeling of any building or structure or portion thereof.
2. The moving of any building or structures. 
3. The use or change in use of a building or structure.
4. The change or extension of a nonconforming use.
5. The erection, adaptation, or alteration of any sign or billboard.
6. Any physical change or alteration which changes the outside appearance or dimension regardless of cost, i.e., aluminum siding, new roof, etc.
7. The erection, adaptation, alteration, or remodeling of any accessory building.
8. As well as any other activity reasonably covered by the Zoning Ordinance. 

This includes fences, swimming pools, sheds, garages, buildings, etc.

ZONING PERMIT APPLICATIONS:

Once the zoning permit is approved by the Zoning Office, a zoning permit will be issued. The Zoning Office will determine whether the applicant needs a building permit. Depending on the scope and purpose of the project, the applicant may need to go through an outside inspector (Richardson Inspection Services-see information below). After this is determined, the fee for the building permit is required either through the City of Sharon Zoning Office or the outside inspector. Once the application is approved and payment received, then a building permit will be issued.
